There are generally two types of people when it comes to making a wedding proposal. One group goes all out and creates an extravagant plan, while the other prefers the traditional, intimate approach. Whichever type of proposal seems right to you, flowers will be an integral part. Here at Schaaf Floral we see a lot of Minneapolis area couples as they prepare for their wedding day, so we thought we might give you a few ideas as to how to ask the big question.
Sweet and Simple: If your idea of the perfect proposal is the two of you at your favorite restaurant, there are still ways to create a romantic mood. Have the restaurant scatter rose petals around your table before you arrive, as well as have a bouquet of her favorite flowers waiting. Another idea we love? Have a miniature three-tiered wedding cake made for dessert, and place the ring placed on the top tier.

Build a Bouquet: Place roses in their path all day long. Leave one at the front door, one on their car, one at their desk at work…you can even have people deliver a single stem. For instance, if you know they go to the same coffee shop every day, have the barrista hand over a rose. By the end of the day, your intended will have a full bouquet, and you can deliver the final rose – and the ring.
Al Fresco Beauty: As a couple, you are often outdoors and exploring. Once you pick the perfect outdoor spot for the wedding proposal, it’s time to decorate! Create a red carpet (or pink, yellow, or white) out of rose petals, and then create a floral backdrop. String single blooms together to make a floral “curtain”, place mason jars with wildflowers, or even have a floral wreath made for her.
We look forward to working with you in creating a beautiful wedding experience, from the very start to the last dance! Call Schaaf Floral today, and let’s start discussing how flowers can be incorporated into every part of your special day.
