Memorial Day Patriotic Floral Arrangements

“They hover as a cloud of witnesses above this Nation”. – Henry Ward Beecher

Memorial Day has been solemnly observed since 1866, when it was established as ‘Decoration Day’. The holiday represented time set aside to decorate the graves of the fallen Civil War soldiers and to pay respects. After World War I came to a close, the name was changed to Memorial Day, in a symbolic gesture that included men and women lost during any military initiative or battle, past or future. In 1971, Congress officially placed Memorial Day on the calendar, and to this day, we still feel a sense of pride when we see flags flying on this day. If you are looking for patriotic floral arrangements to offer respect and esteem to friends and loved ones, you can rely on the team at Schaaf Floral to deliver.

There are usually two types of floral arrangements requested on Memorial Day.

* When sending a personal arrangement to the family of a fallen member of the military, a bouquet or floral design is generally less formal in nature – for instance, Remembrance (shown above) features red and white gerbera daisies and blue hydrangea; arranged in a deep blue vase and showcasing an American flag. These flowers are appropriate to be displayed at home.

* When sending tribute flowers to a grave site or memorial, arrangements are usually more formal, such as seen at a funeral. Crosses, wreathes, urns, grave blankets, and funeral cones are most often requested. Visit our website to see our entire collection of patriotic floral arrangements..

Sending Memorial Day bouquets and displays is a meaningful way to remember the sacrifices of American heroes through the years. This May 29, before the picnics and the barbecues, take a few moments to show respect and convey remembrance. We’ll provide the flowers.
