It is considered the responsibility of the immediate family, such as a spouse or child, to choose the funeral flowers – casket spray, urn flowers, or funeral floral arrangements. If you are not the immediate family but wish to help with this expense, you should let the family choose, and offer to cover the cost. 

For friends, work colleagues and family, there are generally three categories of memorial gifts you may wish to send. Custom funeral flowers such as standing sprays, wreaths or crosses can be sent to the funeral home to honor the deceased, bouquets or arrangements may be sent to the family home, or condolence gifts such as garden stones, memorial plaques, or even fruit baskets may also be sent to a residence.

Please Note: Formal arrangements such as standing sprays are not considered appropriate to send to the family home.

Which Flowers to Choose? The gladiolus bloom is considered a traditional flower for these occasions, as it signifies remembrance, loyalty, strength of character and integrity. Gladioli are elegant, slender stems of flowers which resemble a sword (they are sometimes known as sword lilies) and come in a wide variety of hues, allowing you to honor your loved one with a bouquet of their favorite color flowers. However, roses, carnations and lilies are also very popular choices when ordering custom funeral flowers.
