When witnessing large fields – Of sunflowers in full and gorgeous bloom

They’re truly awe inspiring – But they also provide food to consume

Native Americans ate the seeds – And used the oils from the flower

For treating wounds and hair conditioner – It truly provided power

The Sunflower has a uniqueness – Making it special in many ways

So sending them to your special person – Will brighten up their days

The Autumn Expressions – Will surely catch their eye

A thoughtful and beautiful selection – It truly will cause a sigh

There are some little known facts – Which you probably didn’t know

The sunflower is not just one flower – At the top of the stem is a head

The head is host to hundreds of florets – Protected by petals while being fed

Until they’re finished growing – When each will become a sunflower too

What an amazing story – Quite frankly, who had a clue

The genus Helianthus annus – Is the sunflower’s true name

Helios translates to sun in Greek – Now listen to this claim

The sunflower actually tracks – The sun’s position in the sky

It’s the only flower that does – Now don’t ask me why
