Since the formation of the United States of America, men and women from all over the country have stepped up to the plate, putting their lives on the line to protect our country and our freedom. There is one day on the calender every year to recognize and honor these brave soldiers- Veterans Day. Occurring on the 11th of each November, Veterans Day is a time to remember lives lost and thank, honor and celebrate all of the people who have ever served in the armed forces.

In 1919, President Woodrow Wilson proclaimed November 11th “Armistice Day”. It remained Armistice day until 1954 when Congress changed the name to “Veterans Day”. It has been known as Veterans Day ever since- a day to remember, celebrate and thank all of the men and women who have ever fought to protect our freedom.
