It’s Bold Whimsy For 2018’s Flowers

It’s nice to take a minute during the crush of the holidays and look ahead to the coming year, when all things seem possible. 2018 is just around the corner, and we here at Schaaf Floral suggest you resolve to change up your floral scheme this year.

International Floral Distributors has released their annual trend report for floral designs, and of the four identified, we’re singling out “Folk Art Reinvented” here. Why? Because it’s so much fun.

The trend toward muted, neutral hues in floral arrangements is on its way out (you had a good run, kid). In 2018, bold, bright blooms in Pop Art colors are set to make a comeback, and we couldn’t be happier about it. IFD’s “Folk Art Reinvented” seizes on this trend and highlights boldly-colored flowers that present in all manner of containers, from baskets to glass vases. The look is quirky, individualistic and full of personality. You can see it reflected in our Watercolor Wonder design.Warm Colored Floral Arrangement

This upbeat and youthful approach to flower work reads as hippie-meets-country chic. It’s artsy and fun but with a bit of polish. It doesn’t take itself too seriously, and despite the brash colors, emphasizes a blendable quality. IFD showcased designs where single buds were in vases on a table, and yet all were “grouped” together. This trend encourages floral designers and customers to have fun, be inventive and indulge in all the colors, patterns and textures available to them.
